What you can expect before treatment begins
Sports therapy is beneficial for all athletes, whether it is a long-term solution for better performance, injury rehabilitation or prevention.
When you come into our clinic, our therapists will map out the treatment plan according to whether an athlete requires treatment for pre-event or post-event.
Pre-event Sports Massage (Administered 48-72 hours before an event)
A deep tissue massage may be an ideal way to release any tension from the intense training. A lighter intensity of massage would be ideal 1-2 days before the event to help warm up the body, increase blood supply and help the athlete to relax, while avoiding soreness on event day.
Post-event Sports Massage (Administered within 72 hours after event)
Massage techniques are employed to increase blood circulation, remove metabolic waste and calm muscles after activity. Therapists will use light-pressured techniques and passive stretching to help treat and prevent the onset of muscle fatigue and tightness.
Sports Massage in Singapore
It is common for athletes to experience joint pain, muscle fatigue and soreness. However, the lack of proper care and attention for these problems may allow them to develop into serious problems over time. Sports massage is an excellent way to ensure that these minor issues do not limit your performance or negatively impact your life.
Some techniques we employ
Your therapist will conduct a thorough evaluation of your myofascial system (contractile muscle and connective tissue) to identify any stiffness or lack of coordination. Treatment will then be directed to reduce adhesions and improve movement coordination and control.
Soft Tissue Release (STR)
STR is a technique whereby the therapist actively stretches muscle fibres, tendons and fascia. The primary objective is to remove physical restrictions in the muscle to increase its range of movement and mobility.
How sports massage can help
Increased blood flow to promote healing
Reduce swelling & muscle tension
Enhanced flexibility and joint range of motion (ROM)
At Rehab Paradigm, we pay attention to each individual’s sport and muscle groups to provide the best sports massage experience. Our experienced therapists are equipped to provide a relaxing experience that will help to increase sports performance.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissues massages use firm pressure and slow strokes to massage deep layers of muscle and fascia, the connective tissues surround your muscles.
Deep tissue massages are used to break up scar tissue and break down “knots” we feel in our muscles. These knots are muscle adhesions that can inhibit circulation leading to pain and inflammation.
Benefits of Deep Tissue Massages
Stress Relief by lowering cortisol levels and increasing levels of oxytocin, a hormone that relaxes the body and produces soothing effects.
Lower Blood Pressure by reducing stress and tension.
Help Muscle Recovery by delaying the onset of muscle soreness, help with muscle fatigue, and prevent injury.
Break up Scar Tissue by improving lymphatic circulation and drainage.
Our trained therapists will assess each patient’s problem areas and determine whether entire body or targeted area treatment would be more suitable.
Hydrotherapy is the use of exercise within water to treat a wide spectrum of conditions such as joint pain, sports injuries and arthritis- or orthopaedic- related pain. It is an effective way to relieve discomfort and promote physical well-being.
Cold water can be used to stimulate and invigorate while warm water helps to calm and soothe the body. At Rehab Paradigm, we draw upon the healing of properties of water for pain relief and offer a variety of treatments to improve the conditions of each patient.
Benefits of Hydrotherapy
Reduce pressure on your joints
Exercise in water decreases the effect of gravity on joints and muscles as compared to exercise on land.
Rehabilitate injured muscles
Immersion in warm/hot water raises body temperature, increasing blood flow and circulation that helps to heal injured tissues, damaged muscles and joints
Improve muscle strength
Exercises in water are less strenuous and the resistance from the water allows the muscles to work harder.
Reduce blood pressure caused by stress and release endorphins to fight against stress.
