What does a Clinical Exercise Physiologist do?

We specialise in Sports:

Injury treatment

Our exercise physiologists are clinically trained to take into account the precautions faced by different types of injuries. We understand the milestones of tissue healing and select specialised methods to rehabilitate different conditions at each stage of recovery.

Injury prevention

Injury prevention is vital in reducing long-term consequences of musculoskeletal injuries such as post-traumatic osteoarthritis. Experiencing sports injury may contribute to the further decline in physical activity participation which could result in negative implications such as increased risk of chronic diseases. By reducing the burden of sport-related injury through injury prevention will have a tremendous impact on one’s quality of life.

Rehabilitation

The target of sport rehabilitation is to return the body to its optimal form and function. For those facing acute injury, it is crucial to minimise losses by promoting recovery and maximising functional capacity, fitness and performance. Every rehabilitation plan is catered to help the athlete return to the same activity and environment before the occurrence of the injury in a state where functional capacity is matched at pre-injury levels.

Some of the techniques we use achieve results:

  • Movement Analysis
  • Optimising Movement Patterns
  • Identifying Deficits that increase the risk of injury & affect performance
  • Sport Massage
  • Soft Tissue Manipulation
  • Exercise prescription
  • Dry Needling
  • Taping

How does an exercise physiologist differ from a personal trainer?

The main difference between personal trainers and exercise physiologists is that personal trainers are not equipped to work with people who have suffered injuries or have existing medical conditions. Personal trainers work with clients to achieve specific fitness goals while exercise physiologists use their knowledge to work with people who have been affected by a chronic illness/disease or have sustained previous injuries. The goal of an exercise physiologist is to help their patients determine the optimal programme to follow after thoroughly assessing their patient’s condition.

Weight Loss PROGRAM SINGAPORE

Untitled-3

Many patients experience musculoskeletal problems, knee or back pain that prevents them from engaging in usual fitness regimes. If you find typical fitness regimes to be overly taxing on your body, exercise physiology is ideal for you! Some patients may even find 30 minutes of walking a struggle to maintain weight.

Our programmes are designed to meet each client’s particular needs, with supervision from our experts along with necessary follow-ups to ensure its efficacy.

The goals of our programme are to help reduce or remove barriers to physical activity by promoting safe participation in physical activity to promote weight reduction or weight control.

Exercise

To help our patients achieve their weight goals, we prescribe aerobic exercise, strength & resistance training along with reduced food intake.

Doing all this while keeping track of progress and ensuring that the activity level is appropriate for the individual so that they can commit to it even in the long-term.

Our programmes are personalised to fit each patient’s daily schedule, home environment, accessible facilities and equipment.

Nutrition

Making wiser food choices such as restricting unhealthy foods and moderating calories can help aid the process of weight loss.

Healthcare professionals can only encourage healthier eating, inform on nutritional benefits and modify diet plans to suit individual needs better. However, the patient’s adherence to their diet plays an imperative role in determining the success of their programme.
